How would I use blogs, wikis and delicious with my students?

Technology has become an inspirational tool that can enhance, promot, and facilitate the learning process in educational institutions. It is very important  that teachers become comfortable with the different form of interactiv websites suach as wikis, blogs, and delicious in order to keep up with the latest achievements in the feild of technology and education.
As a teacher, I will use these websites during my lectures for the purpose of making learning useful as well as enjoyable process.

Blogger is the act of writing a post for a blog. I would love to use this website in order to improve  the students' writing skill. For example, I will give them a certain topic and they have to write about it. When they post it, they’ll receive feedback from me and from their other colleagues. This for sure will improve their writing skills and give them the opportunity to express their thoughts and opinions about this topic.

Wiki is a web technology that allows me to share works, ideas, videos, and links with my students. Using this website  will give the students the chance to understand the meaning of collaborative work. For example, I will divide them into groups; each group choose a topic related to social networking in school. They have to collect data, discuss it, analyze it and post it in their group wiki. Later on, the other groups have to comment on their work.

Delicious is a social bookmarking website that give us the opportunity to share useful bookmarks. As a teacher, I will ask my students to add useful and powerful links such as improving English language at a young age. Then, they have to add links that provide useful activities for learning English language.

The Possiblity of Reaching Bax’s Normilasation in our national context: Why is it possible? When is it possible? How will it be possible?

 

Now we are in terms of call where we still have problems in educational institutions due to lack of technical support, computers, projects, printers and other equipments. On other words, call hasn't yet reached the stage of normalization.

 According to Bax, moving towards normalization requires the use of technology to the extent that it becomes invisible . Also, Teachers and students have to use technology in everyday life.We should accept  the idea of learning through technology and not being afraid of trying something new. We have to believe that technology is made to meet our daily needs and not to make our life difficult.

  The Possibility of Reaching  Bax’s  Normalization in Saudi Arabia :

In Saudi Arabia, teachers prefer to use the traditional way when it comes to teaching in school. They just see teaching as a tool which can be accomplished through lecturing, but not through technology. However, students have more freedom to use technology in college and higher education.

 We can reach call normalization in Saudi educational institutions by following these points:

• equipping educational institutions with computers, laptops and  printers. 

•   Preparing students to use useful and developmental websites that help them to improve their level of understanding.

•  Bringing well prepared teachers who have extensive knowledge in the field of technology. They have to monitor the performance of thier students and make sure that they get the concept behind using it as a part of their education.

•  Using Ipad , smart –phones and smart-board during lectures in order to facilitate the learning process.
